Sleepeek privacy policy

Sleepeek is published by Richard Depierre. Contact: contact@sleepeek.com.

In short

  • Your recordings stay on your phone. The sounds of your night, their transcriptions and your notes are never sent to a server. They only leave your phone if you share them yourself.
  • Sleepeek doesn’t use accounts and doesn’t ask for your name, email or phone number.
  • To improve the app, Sleepeek sends anonymous usage statistics (for example “a night was finished”). You can turn them off at any time in Settings.

What happens on your phone

The microphone. During a night you start, Sleepeek listens through the microphone. It only keeps the moments when there is a sound (with two seconds before and after), as short audio files saved on your phone. Outside a night you’ve started, the microphone isn’t used.

Sorting sounds and transcription. Sorting sounds (snoring, talking, coughing, other) and transcribing speech into text are done on your phone, with tools built into iOS. The first time, iOS downloads the speech recognition model for the app’s language from Apple; this download contains none of your data.

Your notes and settings (remedies, habits, start and wake-up times) are saved on your phone.

How long. Without Sleepeek+, Sleepeek keeps your last 7 nights and deletes older ones (files included). With Sleepeek+ (monthly or lifetime), your nights stay until you delete them. You can delete a sound, a night or everything from the app. Uninstalling the app deletes everything.

What leaves your phone

When you share. If you share a clip, a video, a PDF report or an export, it goes to the app or person you choose, through the iOS share sheet. Sleepeek doesn’t see it.

Usage statistics. To know what works in the app, Sleepeek measures how it’s used with an audience measurement service hosted in the European Union. Only events are sent: app opened, night started or finished, purchase page viewed, purchase made (and its plan, monthly or lifetime), and your optional answer to “How did you hear about Sleepeek?”. They carry a random identifier specific to the app, with no link to your identity or to other apps. No sound, text, note or location is sent. This data is not sold or used for advertising, and it is kept for 13 months at most. You can turn these statistics off at any time in Settings > Share anonymous statistics.

Purchases. Sleepeek+ (monthly subscription or lifetime purchase) goes through the App Store. Apple handles the payment and the subscription; Sleepeek only receives confirmation of the purchase, checked on your phone.

The sleepeek.com website

To know which pages are useful, the website measures its traffic with the same audience measurement service as the app, hosted in the European Union. It counts page views, how far pages are read, the page or site you came from, and sign-ups to the waitlist (without your email address). The website sets no cookies and stores nothing in your browser: visitors are counted anonymously, with no way to recognize you from one visit to the next. This data is not sold or used for advertising, and it is kept for 13 months at most.

The waitlist

Before the app comes out, you can leave your email address on sleepeek.com to be notified. We keep your address, the date you signed up and the page of the website you signed up from, to send you a single email: the one announcing Sleepeek’s release. This data is hosted in the European Union. It is deleted after that email is sent, and at the latest 12 months after you signed up. To unsubscribe before then, write to contact@sleepeek.com. To protect this form from bots, an automatic check runs in your browser when you submit it.

What Sleepeek doesn’t do

No advertising, no tracking across apps, no selling of data, no account, no server that receives your recordings.

Your rights

Your recordings are entirely in your hands: you can view, export and delete them from the app. If you signed up for the waitlist, your email address is the only data that identifies you. For any question about your data or to exercise your rights (access, objection, erasure), write to contact@sleepeek.com. You can also file a complaint with the CNIL, the French data protection authority (www.cnil.fr).

Health

Sleepeek is not a medical device. Its measurements are made with a phone’s microphone and are not a diagnosis.

Changes

If this policy changes, the new version will be published on this page with its date.
